Is there a way to wake up the display or to come out of idle sleep? I have a central computer communicating with several satellite Macs that generate and display our patterns. The satellites get no user input and I keep them awake with UpdateSystemActivity(). That all works great until there is a break in use of the main computer. For long breaks (like overnight) I'd like the satellites to go to sleep, but when I enable that, I can't get them to fully wake afterwards. I am using the ThoMoNetworking framework to get the satellites as servers. As servers the satellites can send and receive information from the central computer when it starts up in the morning, but unfortunately the display remains off. In most other situations keeping the displays off is desirable, but not here, and I can't find any way to wake up the rest of the machine. Any suggestions?
I'm seeing the problem in a range of Macs running versions of Lion.
