That is odd. My question is, how do those menu items "know" to be enabled when we run a modal dialog the more usual way, using a nib? Seems like something I should know but I don't have the answer offhand. I'd search the docs but I have to run in a minute -- maybe the answer is in the doc "How Modal Windows Work"?
