The correct answer is to learn how nibs work and use them correctly. Re-read the Document Based Applications Overview: http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/Documents/Documents.html Do not avoid IB. It is not "simpler." It does not get you "under the hood."
