Have you thought of changing your mouse's System Preferences settings to execute a script that does what you want? It appears you should be able to use the side-buttons on a Mighty Mouse to do what you want. Otherwise, I'd contact the manufacturer of your three-button mouse and let them know of your need. Trying to do this in the manner you're describing sounds rife with headaches.
