How does Quicksilver deal with this? Its LSUIElement is 1, so at least
according to that it should act as a normal app (and does - at least when it’s
set to show up in the dock - does it somehow change the LSUIElement?).

        There is this (http://www.cocoadev.com/index.pl?TransformProcessType)
about the TransformProcessType call in 10.5+ (at least in the public API) -
that might be of use.
