Yep that worked:

        NSString *file = [[NSBundle mainBundle]pathForResource:@"Question Mark" 
ofType:@"pdf"];
        NSData  *data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile:file];
        NSImage *image = [[NSImage alloc] initWithData:(NSData *)data];
        [imageView setImage:image];

(I'm using GC).
