Yes, I agree. My File's Owner is a NSPersistentDocument subclass. The nib has an object controller and an array controller both of which are bound to the File's Owner managedObjectContext.
It would be unusual to have a MOC directly connected to a View. They are normally connected to array or object controllers in the controller.
The nib contains a custom view with custom programmatic bindings. The bindings need a reference to the moc.
