Note that -displayNameAtPath: will give you the localized name if one should exist.

(For example you'll get 'Programme' for the 'Applications' folder if you happen to be on a German system.)

You can't use that as an input to file system functions.

Since the OP didn't say what he needs the filename for, - displayNameAtPath: may or may not be the right solution.
