Thanks Ken, I'll follow up with the user with these points. My app doesn't post keyboard events itself, but on further discussion it sounds like the app is hanging rather than actually crashing, so the Force Quit situation definitely could be the case.

The default key combo for Front Row seems to be command + enter, Force Quit is command + option + escape, so they don't seem to be all that similar. But it could be some other user error.

A user is reporting a crash with my app where the crash causes the system to bring up Front Row. Has anyone ever seen anything like this, or can offer an explanation for it? I can't even see how an app could bring up Front Row if it wanted to, let alone accidentally like this! Naturally it's not something I can reproduce in the development environment, and seems to be affecting just one user.

Some WAGs:

* Does your app post keyboard events? Perhaps it got corrupt data and accidentally posted the key combination for Front Row.

* Could the user be attempting to Force Quit your app and getting the key combo slightly wrong? IIRC, the default combo for Front Row is pretty close to that for Force Quit.

* Actually, could your app have a key combo that the user might be trying to invoke, but a) they're getting it wrong and hitting the one for Front Row instead, or b) they have (accidentally?) remapped the combo for Front Row to the one that your app uses?

* The user's system may be so hosed that the crash reporter (or whatever has replaced it in Snow Leopard) is somehow hooked up to Front Row instead of whatever it should be. Can't imagine how that might happen or how you'd diagnose it.

You might have the user disable the key combo for Front Row altogether to see if the problem goes away.

Good luck,
Ken
