Thanks to all for the kind response. At this point, I am confident that something broke my permission. I will just say this was an isolated case.
But this is an alert for us as I was trying to keep a global Preference of my app that only the Admin can modify and this totally throws that idea off. (Including some Apple system prefs too.) And if Repair Permissions does not fix this, it's hard to blame the user for not maintaining their system. If anyone has opinions on should an (in this case my) app detect these insecure permissions and fix them or should be left as is, please let me know. Otherwise, thanks again. -Ken >> But it is now in the /Library/Preferences as "com.example.test.plist" >> and is the case with all the non-admin account I tried on my Leopard >> iMac. >> So I checked the folder permission to find out it's: >> drwxrwxrwx 67 root admin 2278 Sep 20 02:35 Preferences _______________________________________________ Cocoa-dev mailing list (Cocoa-dev@lists.apple.com) Please do not post admin requests or moderator comments to the list.
