You mean that quick perusal of NSBundle.h didn't turn up anything?
Maybe my headers are different from yours, but it was really easy to
come up with that line myself:
NSUInteger jpegCount = [[[NSBundle mainBundle]
pathsForResourcesOfType:@"jpg" inDirectory:subDirName] count];
