That's how I do it, and it's what I'd recommend if you're concerned about this. Moving the app from where the user wants to put it (or nagging the user to do so every startup) is a bad idea IMO. Putting up a dialog box if someone launches the app from the DMG is okay if you're concerned about that, but please don't automatically copy it, as some of us prefer to run a freshly downloaded app out of the DMG the first time, to evaluate whether we want to keep the app or not. As for me, I will put your app where I want to put it, and if your app constantly moves itself from where I want it, I will move your app... to the Trash. Don't do that.
