Nope; my fault. All this time I had misread the whole point of the threads. My app has never received low-memory warnings. So my observations in turn have nothing to do with it.
I will re-add the proper refactor to my to-do list. There's a chance my particular apps will continue to never receive the warnings. But, I want them to be good citizens should they ever occur.
