I was trying to solve this problem before too. I thought you could get the CIImage of the individual frames of the progress indicator and apply an Invert filter on it. I'm not even sure if it'd work though ... I never implemented it and It's probably simpler to just use the AMIndeterminateProgressIndicator class.
