You guessed incorrectly, actually. Always use -
fileSystemRepresentation or -getFileSystemRepresentation:maxLength:. -
UTF8String will incidentally work for HFS+ and UFS, but it probably
won't work with legacy file systems that don't support Unicode, such
as HFS.
