Thanks Joseph. I looked at your source more closely and I think I get the idea how to use Core Foundation to run the timers in a separate thread with a CFRunLoop. It looks quite straightforward. I really appreciate the sample code. It's makes it so much easier than just reading the reference material on ADC. It's come down to a choice between kernel queue's kevent() timers and CFRunLoopTimers on a separate thread.
