        If all that doesn't work, I'd look at the split view.

In particular, I'd see if the problem occurs with a table that's *not* in a split view. Or keep the split view but try sending setNeedsDisplay:YES to the table in case the split view is suppressing redraw for some reason. I'd experiment myself, but I don't have time.
