The window server always creates your drawing area as a frame (rectangle) but that doesn't mean you have to draw a frame. If you want to draw something non-standard you will have to create a transparent, borderless window and then draw your non-standard shape inside. There are some sample applications that have oval shaped windows on
the Apple Developer website... you should probably start there :) J
