You've also eliminated all the code from your post that might give us a clue what could be going on. drawRect: on its own won't loop infinitely, so it *must* be something else. Have you tried removing the NSLog call - it's the only thing according to your post that is left, but since that should work, the fault lies elsewhere in your code.
