I am sure you are about to get a bunch of comments about the appropriateness of posting iPhone related questions on this list, but I will leave it to a moderator to do it properly. I will say that using an unreleased beta product to be your first foray into Cocoa/ Objective-C is probably not the best approach. It might make more sense to use a stable, released environment with plenty of books on the topic and some good resources for asking questions (like this list, which *is* appropriate for general Cocoa questions).
