Not sure what "the app bundle cache" is, but maybe nuking the LaunchServices db 
would help?

Dump LS database:
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister
 -dump > ~/lsdump.txt

Purge LS database:
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister
 -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
