I have a test machine running High Sierra 10.13.4. Just on Friday I was doing some network testing for a friend, connecting a Windows 10 machine to a macOS High Sierra shared folder. The Mac became extremely sluggish. Every operation that touched the file system became extremely slow even after turning file sharing off. I have never experienced anything like this before.
