Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with Core Data. I feel like it probably should be reimagined for Swift.
So far my use case has been light and it didn't bite my in the butt yet. But I did submit a few Core Data tickets to bugreport. Haven't received any replies from any of them yet. It's a bit discouraging.
