Hi Scott, Are you talking about writing a machine vision app for the Mac or iPhone specifically meant to identify colored lights or LEDs to help the visually impaired?

To contribute something positive here, Nant Mobile has just released the ID Recognition platform as an SDK so this may be something that you might be interested in.
