It's actually LSUIElement.Whether this key is appropriate depends on what the service does. If it has a user interface (uses AppKit) but just doesn't want to show up in the Dock or have a menu bar, then LSUIElement is the way to go. But for a real background process with no UI, it's better to use LSBackgroundOnly instead. The difference is that LSBackgroundOnly processes don't get a connection to the window server, which saves system resources.
