Are you certain this code is actually running and that uiButton is bound to
the button you think it's bound to? This looks correct (though you often
don't require the setNeedsDisplay:). I would add:

   NSLog(@"DEBUG:disable uiButton:%@:%d", uiButton, [uiButton isEnabled]);

And make sure what you think is happening is actually happening.
