As a general rule, if the engine hits redline before you hit hull speed, your 
pitch is too fine. It is like a car stuck in 1st gear. If you cannot reach 
redline RPM, then the prop pitch is too coarse. It is generally considered very 
rough on diesel engines to be limited by the prop instead of the governor.
