Cool.
Since the welding shop was local and familiar with doing tanks, it was the
simplest solution for me.
BTW, I found that water collected on the aft starboard bilge because of a very
slight list to starboard and ‘surprise’ that is where the original tank leaked.

Hey Charlie, That's a great option.         I have a friend who wanted to
increase fuel capacity on his Beneteau.  He drew up a sketch of what he wanted.
It became an L shaped box and he added a small sump and an inspection plate,
sent it to a tank manufacturer in Florida who fabricated it and it's been good
for thirty years so far.  It was pricey, but so much better than an off the
shelf tank.         I chose to keep it simple and go with rotomolded by
Mueller.  It arrived in a few days and I could spend more time to adapt the
area under a bunk to properly support it and secure it.       Chuck S

After I removed my leaking tank and upon the advice of the local shop, I
carried my old tank to the shop and they duplicated it—no measurements required
on my part.       It fit perfectly and if it didn’t, it was on the shop!

I went with an aluminum tank built by Florida Marine Tanks about 20 years
ago.   It went well,  even added a gallon or so to the new tank.  Measure and
remeasure the old tank to get it right.  I just had to pull the fore and aft
plywood engine compartment panel and maybe (can’t remember)the starboard
scupper hose which should be replaced while you’re in there not to mention the
stock gate valve it’s attached to.       Greg Alimenti Cara Mia C&C 29 MkI

Hello all,      Speaking of fuel tanks, I am considering
replacing/upgrading what I believe to be the 1977 aluminum tank on Firefly (C&C
29 Mk1) to a roto molded one.       Has anyone done so and if yes, what size
did you get to and what was the learning during install & use ?       Karl
