We used a large trolley jack, (industrial size, like for a truck), under the rudder and once the collar was unscrewed it was "fairly" easy to lower the rudder to a point where it could be handled. And yes, you and Jim Watts are correct, its never "easy"...Good luck!

It will. It will also get scarred. My rudder was removed and reinstalled, and none of it was easy. My rudder is draining a lot of rusty water when on the hard. I found a less used rudder -fresh water- that was salvaged and would like to replace it. My current rudder also seems to be lower than it was at the beginning of last season by 1/2 inch.I cannot find a set screw in the collar on top of the rudder. The collar does not want to turn at all. I am looking for any tips/instructions.Thank you in advance! David SwensenFreyaC&C 35-3Beverly, MAYour contributions help pay the fees associated with this list and help to keep it active.
