To close the loop on this, I moved the hot water heater and there is r a ound 
opening to access the strut screws.  👍.  Looks like C&C built this right.  
There is no backing plate, it's pure fiberglass and is a reinforced box.  There 
are stainless steel nuts that are actually in great shape.
