Hi Jeff, I replaced my primaries on my 34 with Anderson ST 50 winches in 2000. They seem sized correctly to me - I certainly wouldn't go smaller. They work fine for hauling in my 135 Genoa fully loaded up but it is about all a typical crew can handle by themselves. If I was to do it again, I would pay the extra for Lewmar Ocean winches of equivalent size or maybe even one size up instead.
