If you have anyone sleeping down below while running the engine for any length of time, a CO detector is an absolute must (regardless of insurance requirements).

CO detector was "required". Smoke detector was "recommended". Propane detector was neither "required" or "recommended". We had to add the CO detectors and we also added a smoke alarm.
