I like this suggestion, I always worry about keeping the foil straight. One trick that a lot of people around here use is to get a few packages of kitchen plastic wrap and use it to wrap around the mast, lines and foil along the length of the mast. It’s surprisingly good protection and very cheap and easy to use.

This prevents the furler foil from bending. Your yard would likely know how, but you want to have someone at the bow to walk the furler outside of your railings (to protect the deck}.
