I had the same issue and surprise. In my case I was pushing too much of the extract hose down the dipstick opening and it would coil up in the pan where the opening of the hose was not facing / touching the bottom of the pan. It could have also run up the side of the pan internally (too small to see :))
I straightened my extract hose and pushed it down and got all of the oil out (4.5 liters). My extract hose is a little stiff so all I did was tape a s screw driver on the end for weight, held it up and used my heat gun. I cooled it off with a wet rag.
