The problem: The C&C 35 MK I has a small horizontal bulkhead right up in the
bow for a reinforced area to bolt the stemhead to. The deck is not attached to
it, there is about a ¼” air gap. That makes the whole assembly weaker and
subject to compression bending.
Step 1: Remove the anchor roller that needs replacing anyway.
Step 2: Use some butyl tape to plug the holes drilled for the bolts from
underneath in the forepeak.
Step 3: Inject as much epoxy as I can into the gap between the horizontal
bulkhead and deck by sticking the epoxy nozzle into the little gap and
squeezing in as much as I can.
Step 4: Inject as much epoxy as I can into the holes in the stemhead fitting
up on deck.
Step 5: (optional) Don’t notice epoxy dripping from nozzle and get epoxy on
pants.

This is where I am so far.

Next steps include buying a new anchor roller and grinding off the aluminum
ridge that is part of the stemhead around the old running lights. If I don’t do
this I can only fit a small roller and I need a bigger one to hold my new Bruce
well. Buying a new roller led to the observation that someone got a metric
crap-ton of Chines anchor rollers and is selling them on FleaBay for about $40.
Normally I would pass on that kind of thing, but it just a bent piece of
metal…………… One also suspects all the expensive rollers are the exact same ones
with a different label.
While I was down there I looked at my PVC pipe repair of the hawsepipe hole and
it is holding up perfectly. I can post details of that if anyone is interested.
