The thickness of the “glass” (presumably plexi) depends on the hatch. Best to measure, or seek info from the manufacturer (if still around). If you order replacement plexi, be mindful of the specs of the manufacturer – there can be a range of thickness deemed acceptable by the manufacturer that may not be okay with you. Regarding the adhesive/sealant, when I replaced the plexi in my hatches I took them to a shop that installs car windshields. They used the same stuff on my hatches they use on cars, and I haven’t had a leak (roughly 10 years). Also, I replaced a deck “prism” window with the same plexi using the 3M tape method often discussed on this list. The silicone sealant is a Dow product as I recall, which provides for a greater working time without skinning over than the comparable GE product. Someone on the list with better recall can provide the actual name. I used it on all my windows and the deck “prism” plexi replacement. No leaks in four years.

The glass on my forward hatch is pretty badly crazed. Recently I discovered that the hatch is also leaking around the glass to frame seal. Two questions. What thickness is the glass? What sealant is used to hold the glass to the frame? Thanks Josh Muckley S/V Sea Hawk 1989 C&C 37+ Solomons, MD
