Hi JohnKelly,

I'm sure others will respond to this as well, since it is easily available
online. The Hull Identification Number is as follows:

*Manufacturer's Identification Code**Manufacturer's Serial Number**Commencement
of Construction**Model Year*
*ABC* *2AB41* *G0* *91*

*1.2.2.4.4 Table 1-1 is a typical example of a complete
twelve-digit HIN for a vessel where fabrication commenced in July 1990 for
the 1991 model year.*

Therefore ZCCM0020M781 would indicate this was hull #20. However, in the
regulations for the HIN, there is no month designated as "M". December is
the last month and is designated as "L". The "7" would indicate that it was
built in 1977, which would befit hull #20. The last two digits are supposed
to be the Model Year, so 81 would not make sense for a hull #20 built in
1977. Curious.
