One of the guys who used to co-own a boat yard here in St. Michaels had a deep draft ex-racing boat and converted it for cruising. Chopped the extra keel off with a chain saw, and had Mars Metal take the lead and mold a wing keel (in halves) and bolted it on, faired it in and used it for a number of years. It sold.
