I am in NC and never let it run when I am not on boat. Of course, I am a little paranoid about having shore power doing anything on board in my absence including battery charging. I am 1 hour away from my boat in a club owned marina with no Dockmaster. With my 16000 btu unit blowing thru head to main cabin, it takes ~ 30 minutes to make it reasonable cool below. A stuck float switch led to continued high amp charging years ago which literally ‘smoked’ my charger (I found the charred component in my charger and replaced) and it’s failure likely prevented a fire. Water Phantom may sink at the dock ( bilge pump not powered) but unless hit by lightening or catching fire from a neighbor’s boat, she will not burn (again) on my watch.
