I lightly sanded the corner castings on the interior, and spray painted them with a can Epoxy paint or maybe Rustoleum enamel. I found a good color match in the local hardware store. I think the color was called Appliance Coffee. For my Bomar hatches, I believe that they were originally either black Anodized or maybe black alodine. I took them to a professional powder coating shop. He striped them, and powder coated them with an Awl Grip Black powder. I put new gaskets on them at the same time.I had the mast stripped and repainted by my rigger, with white awl grip at the same time. All of the other cast fittings, gooseneck, boom end, mast cap, and etc were stripped and powder coated with the black awl grip That was over 15 years ago and other than a few minor dings, the finishes are still looking great Just my few cents, Don WagnerC&C 41 CBDer Baron

Glad to hear/see that even the designer of many great C&Cs can be hoisted on the ‘petard’ of ‘it seemed like a good idea at the time’, only to later have to admit later “...what was I thinking”! More so, he is willing to share it with the list! Good “..on you Mate...” to use a phrase from down under. All, A friend of mine had a 38 Mk 111 and had all of the below deck handholds on the cabinets, chart table and dining table plated in chrome. They really brightened up the boat. He has passed, so I am not able to find out where he had them done. I have mine off as we are redoing the table in all teak veneer vs the white. They are the old dark brown paint and need updating. So thinking about either plating or powder coating. So far I have gotten some quotes ranging from 65 to 120 each. Searching out some RI companies now as it has a ton of costume jewelry industry. Wondering if anyone has done anything similar? Thanks!
