Hi Stu,

I've been working with Fusion 360 for for toolpath generation a few years, after trying Solidworks and Mastercam, and I find it much more intuitive and pretty easy to use.  It's published by Autodesk, who sells Autocad, and it's free if you're not using if for commercial work.  Be happy to talk offline if you want more detail.
