According to the 37+/40 build specs , the rudder post is supposed to be 3.15” OD 1.97” ID SS bar.
Though mine is closer to 3” OD I suspect it is still hollow with an ID of ~ 1.75” or so. That’s still plenty of steel to drill through, but way less hassle the hauling and dropping the rudder.
