My 37 has the deck scuppers and this was this First thing I fixed after
purchase. Unfortunately they are small and make a 90 degree turn not far from
where they go in so both sides were plugged tight :( so help water until nature
dried it out. Port side I was Able to shop vac too and hose out from below,
starboard broke when I touched it so I was left with a hole in my boat! Hole
was Topside yes but if it rained it leaked as it wa ms Not round, and not easy
to plug without replacing and sealing
Took a week to find he right scupper so I did not hard to change drain line to
through hull.
A real bear to get at inside the back wall plexi in galley so no real way to
see with doing the boat dance.
I installed #1 and dry fit only thankfully only to come up about 2 full turns
short of being perfectly snug ! Yes I ended up with 2 extra that did not fit
(length of Non threaded area) and grabbed a proper spare for the other side for
“when it goes” :)

Hi Will

For my rain water collection I tied into the scupper next to the toe rail on
the deck. Used a tee and two shut off valves. One side goes to the original
drain and the other I put a hose barb on. Let it rain for a few minutes attach
a hose and then switch valve positions. Your deck may not have scuppers like
on the 37’. In the past I’ve used the canvas between the dodger and bimini.
I just unzipped it about half way and placed a bucket at the end of the flap.
More work and wetter.

Hi
Love all the great responses of this forum—thanks all!
Has anybody rigged up a rainwater collector? I’m not real sure about using the
sails with all the crap in the air, but I’m happy to use a purpose-built
plastic sheet tied to boom or mast or outrigger and funneled unto one of the
water intakes on deck.
Always trying to be a little more self sufficient since I’m a live aboard.
Cheers, Will
