I used Gore GFO (http://gfopacking.com) 6 years ago at the suggestion of Maine Cruising site (https://pbase.com/mainecruising/stuffing_box&page=2).  It was easy to do and has worked fine since.  I had too much dripping last summer and tightened slightly to slow it down but I think that is the second adjustment in 6 years.  Dave
