I had my topsides painted with awlgrip 3 years ago. It looks fantastic and maintenance is pretty straight forward It takes a lot less effort than gelcoat in the spring. I follow the recommended cleaning and protection 2x per season.
However, as I found out while docking single handed in a very high cross-wind, it can scratch easily. Also, if you shrink-wrap your boat in the winter, you can't do that if you have awlgrip.
