The propane locker on Alera is on the Sbd side of the helm station just inbound of the fuel filler. It has some sort of insert on the bottom. I'm not sure if it's painted wood or fiberglass. I am considering reenforcing it and mounting my linear drive to it, upsidedown. Now you have me wondering if it is silid enough to handle he lateral load and/or how much reenforcing it's going to need to do so.

Subject: Stus-List Propane locker followup question - Wood panel at
        the bottom?

Hello all,

In the propane locker in our 1994 C&C 37/40+, there is a wood panel that has been painted white over varnish and is screwed down.? I forget the reason, but a couple years ago I needed to remove it, and I wanted to make sure it was well sealed so propane fumes would not leak below.?

However, the idea of a panel relying on sealer to not have leaks leaves me a bit nervous.? Even worse, if I am forced to get a survey for insurance purposes, I'm not sure this would pass.

Is there an inherent reason for having a removable panel in the bottom of the propane locker?
Do any of you have the same model boat with a removable panel??

I can get behind the locker by crawling into various fetal positions - not fun, but possible.?

Looking forward to hearing any insights,
