I bet that there are some spots where you have solid fibreglass in the bottom.

An easy test is to use a Ziploc bag full of water and put the transducer on top 
of it and move the two around the area where you would want to install it. If 
it can fire through the hull, you would see the depth on the instrument.

Once you figure this out, then you can install it in the Arimar mounting 
bracket (you silicone or epoxy it to the hull and install the transducer in it 
(with some liquid, like an antifreeze, there)(this is how mine is installed) or 
you can put it a wax seal (one that is used to seal the toilets), or you can be 
brave and epoxy the transducer to the hull permanently.

Hello all,

I bought a Garmin Echomap Plus 94SV and transducer that is on sale at West 
Marine.  This comes with a good transducer that will map out the bottom, act as 
a fish finder, etc.    On most boats, the transducer can be mounted in the 
bilge and will fire through the fiberglass sufficiently.  We, however, have a 
cored hull.

If worse comes to worst, we get depth data via the existing transducer, but I'd 
like the added functionality.

Does anyone know if there is a spot around the keel where the hull is not cored 
and it might work?

Does anyone have a drawing that shows where the hull is, and is not cored?
