Let me preface with a good, "You do you". The Gaurhaure snatch blocks have a hole in their middle which allows for a bungee or simple line to be clipped to the lifeline. This keeps the block from falling to the deck or topsides when not in use. I even used lines such as these and saw them used on blocks that where not made by Gaurhaure pretty frequently.
