Last year at the N.E. Rendezvous in Greenport, other guests suggested that we explore/drive through shelter island and then hit Sag Harbor. It appeared to be a cool town though we didn't get to explore too long. We happened to be there for their Whaling days festival which was very enjoyable. You might want to look them up and see what's going on.
