Hi Noah, We bought our 37/40 in Ontario back in 2010 and sailed it down the St. Lawrence to Cape Breton Island where we live. We have the 8' 2" Deep Fin Keel, same as yours. We had zero issues with this depth of keel, anywhere we went on that trip and only occasionally since. Where are you going to use the boat that you need to shorten the keel? Just curious.
I'm quite please with the deep keel actually, I'm glad we held out for one when we were searching for a boat. By the way, your boat has had a few different names over the years, including: 'Painkiller Two', 'Hippy Chick', and 'Lake Effect'. I prefer ' Assailant'.
